How to Sing Ping

There will be a total of five songs to learn on Ping for 2010.

Teachers and students can download the songs, which are presented in two versions:

  1. Complete mix with Mal Webb singing the lyrics
  2. Backing track for classes to sing over, and students to practice with.

You are encouraged required to burn them to CD, put them on iPods, email them to all your friends. These songs are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution – Share Alike – Non Commercial license.

Additionally you access and print lyrics and sheet music for each track.

Warning

These songs are serious ear worms. You will be humming them, singing them and breaking out in song at unexpected moments.

Your task

Is to learn the songs and upload a recording of the class singing along with each song (as a separate file). Ideally you should upload this to your class blog. Don’t forget to Pingback to this article by copying the URL for this page into your post. This will leave a link at the bottom of this post to your upload.

  • You can upload an audio recording (mp3) – perhaps recorded with a Netbook and Audacity
  • Or you could video the class an upload that

Bend it, extend it, and then reinvent it

We will be posting all samples from the tracks so that students can remix them, or create their own tracks from them. As well as doing some more exciting collaborative things with these songs. Stay Tuned.

Discuss with Mal Webb

Mal Webb, the composer of these songs will be blogging throughout Term 3 & 4 2010, as well as commenting on student and class work. Everyone is invited to discuss the songs in the Ping Sing Discussion Group.
